Description
Boat
Duke of York is a beautifully designed 36 m long, 11 m wide wooden luxury liveaboard with four decks that combine elegant interior features and extensive outdoor spaces. Her structure is built with quality craftsmanship, offering stability, comfort and a refined environment ideal for cruising the Maldives’ stunning atolls and vibrant dive sites.
Duke of York normally cruises at around 9–12 knots, powered by reliable engines, with generators providing 220 V electricity throughout the vessel. The yacht is accompanied by a traditional diving dhoni — a dedicated dive support boat — which carries compressors and dive gear and serves as the primary platform for dive operations.
Duke of York comes with a large air-conditioned indoor saloon with comfortable seating, media entertainment and a well-stocked bar perfect for socialising after diving. There is also a spacious outdoor dining area on the main deck aft, shaded for alfresco meals and gatherings. Multiple sun decks with loungers, mats and shade options allow guests to relax, take in the views, or soak up the tropical sun while at anchor or underway.
Onboard food is served buffet-style, featuring a mix of international, Italian-inspired and Maldivian cuisine, with fresh seafood and local ingredients. The chefs are attentive to special dietary needs when informed in advance. Beverages include fruit juices, soft drinks, iced tea, coffee and a selection of spirits and local beers; specialty drinks and imported liquors may be brought aboard with you.
Diving operations are organised from the dhoni, ensuring smooth boarding and entry to prime dive sites across the Maldives. Additional amenities include a dedicated camera rinsing area and storage for dive and snorkel gear.

Here we will find very peculiar dive sites characterized by the abundance of any kind of hard and soft corals. But the highlight of the atoll is Hanifaru Lagoon.
From May to November, an exceptional concentration of kreel attracts hundreds of mantas for feeding and often some whale sharks also feed among them. We keep cruising north-eastward to reach Lhaviyani Atoll, whose shape and particular position features oceanic channel dives either on the east and on the west side, giving us the chance to dive with “in-coming currents” in both monsoon seasons to spot any kind of pelagic fish including grey reef sharks.
During summer time, the marine protected area of Fushifaru Thila becomes a spectacular manta point. But the cruise will go farther north across Noonu and Shaviyani atolls, vast areas only recently open to tourism with lots of dive sites to discover! Beautiful Thilas with overhangs and caves, soft corals, eagle rays, giant groupers and occasionally grey reef sharks. Throughout the cruise it will be possible to visit fishing villages and beautiful uninhabited islands.
