Me and my mother just back from 5-day-4-night liveaboard trip from THE JUNK. We really enjoyed our time on this authentic and historical teak wood merchant sailing vessel, Thank you Shueri for...

The Junk was built in Penang, Malaysia in 1962 for charcoal transportation that traded up and down the coastline from Burma to Malaysia. It was mainly used to transport mango wood charcoal till 1985 then she was restored and redesigned for the first time to serve as a classic yacht. In 1997 the boat changed owners and it was completely restored and set up as a liveaboard vessel.

The Junk features a cozy indoor air-conditioned lounge on the main deck, with comfortable sofa sittings, dining tables & charis, cocktail & snack bar, TV, DVD, library of movies, books and CDs.

Out side of the lounge there is also an outdoor open deck area, with charis and chaise, it can be shaded by canvas during the day and offer a nice cooling area for relaxation.

Itineraries

The Similan Islands (4 & 6 NIGHTS)

Dive areas : Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, Richelieu Rock, Surin Islands.

The Similan Islands in Thailand are thought to have inherited their name from the Malaysian word sembelan, which means nine, as the Similans consist of a grouping of nine granite boulder Islands arranged in a South to North access. All the Islands have Thai names but even your Captain will refer to them by number, starting with Island #1 in the South and finishing ten nautical miles in the North with Island #9. Above the water topography is stunning, lush vegetation topping the Islands gives way to granite boulders or white sandy beaches, surrounded by clear blue water. But it is what lies beneath the water that allows the Similans to lay claim to being one of Thailand and Asia's top scuba diving liveaboard destinations.

Your Cruise Director will schedule up to 4 dives per day: 3 day dives and either a sunset or a night dive. The diving day has a typical schedule as follows:

Light Breakfast followed by a briefing & Dive 1
Full Breakfast, relaxation followed by briefing & Dive 2
Lunch, relaxation followed by briefing & Dive 3
Dinner will be served after the sunset dive or before the night dive

The embarkation and disembarkation day will be no diving. For the final day aboard we schedule 3 dives to allow plenty of time for off-gassing before disembarkation and your flight home. The Cruise Director is happy to listen to requests from guests to visit or remain at certain sites and providing it is possible and the schedule allows, then guest’s requests are respected.

Southern Thailand (3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS)

Dive areas : Koh Phi Phi, King Cruiser, Shark Point, Koh Doc Mai, Racha Yai & Racha Noi.

The Phi Phi Island group lies in Phang-Nga bay about 45km east of Phuket and 30km south west of Krabi. Two main islands make up Phi Phi with the largest island of Phi Phi Don being a few kilometres north of Phi Phi Lae. The islands here are limestone islands and are breathtaking. Limestone cliffs rise vertically into the sky, where the trees take over. There are many beaches, coves and bays which make for dramatic scenery to enjoy surface intervals during your liveaboard vacation in Thailand.

Suitable for photographers with a mix of large and small life, colourful reefs, submerged pinnacles and limestone walls. Large Fish & Pelagics: Blacktip Sharks, Barracudas etc. Macro: Seahorses, nudibranchs, frog fish.

Your Cruise Director will schedule up to 4 dives per day; 3 day dives and a night dive (total of 10 dives over 3 days). The diving day has a typical schedule as follows:

Boarding The Junk at Chalong Pier at 8.30 am, light breakfast & dive 1
Full Breakfast on day 2, relaxation followed by briefing & Dive 2
Lunch, relaxation followed by briefing & Dive 3
Snack
Briefing for Sunset or Night dive on day 1 and 2,
or disembarkation at around 5pm on day 3
Dinner will be served after the sunset dive or before the night dive

For your final day aboard, we chedule 2 morning dives and a single dive after lunch to allow plenty of time for off-gassing before disembarkation. The Cruise Director is happy to listen to requests from guests to visit or remain at certain sites and providing it is possible and the schedule allows, then guest’s requests are respected.

Me and my mother just back from 5-day-4-night liveaboard trip from THE JUNK. We really enjoyed our time on this authentic and historical teak wood merchant sailing vessel, Thank you Shueri for recommend it to us! Because my mum is a non-diver, i was worried she will be board while i was under the sea. But onboard of THE JUNK, there is a huge deck with comfortable matresses to lay around and relax, and a large air-con saloon. My mum enjoyed it! And diving in the southern Andaman Sea was better than i imaged. We saw whale shark! it was my first time saw whale shark, i'm really happy about it! And the enitre trip! Thanks
