Triton Bay

Triton Bay lies to the south east of Raja Ampat and is located in the center of the Coral Triangle. It is considered an absolute world-class dive site with its own unique fascination. In 2008 Kaimana Regency declared a 6,000 sq km Marine Protected Area around the waters of Kaimana and Triton Bay.

Triton Bay offers some magnificient diving that includes beautiful soft coral, giant sea fans, black coral forests, large schools of fish and much more. Almost all of the marine creatures found in other parts of Indonesia, too numerous to list, can be found here. The area offers everything from the tiniest pygmy seahorses to large and graceful whale sharks visiting the traditional fishing bagans, Epaulette sharks can be seen walking over the reefs. Sometimes you can even encounter pods of dolphins and marlin in there area.

Triton Bay area enjoys tropical climate with air temperatures around 30º C throughout the year. Best time for diving is between November to April each year. Most of liveaboards runs to Triton Bay also include some parts of Raja Ampat or Banda Sea, sometimes even both.

Triton Bay and Raja Ampat are part of the same region and many of the species are common to both areas. In fact new species of gobies, wrasses and corals have all been identified in Triton Bay in recent years, with some experienced scuba divers viewing the 4 Kings as royalty, but Triton Bay as the home of the God of the Sea.
