Eco Blue is a comfortable standard yacht that offers dive liveaboard trips all around the Maldives, it can accommodate up to 22 guests on board.

Description

Boat

Eco Blue formerly known as Blue Shark 2, it is a 32 meters long, 10 meters wide traditional Maldivian yacht, it was built back to 2002, and refurbished completely in 2017, cruising at 10 knots per hour, onboard it has has 110/120V AC and 220/240V power, 3 Pin Sockets.

Eco Blue has a large lounge and an independent dining area on the main deck with TV, comfortable sofas, books, Lavazza coffee bar, beer tapping system, charging station and special photographer storage space.

There are 3 outdoor lounge areas: one located in front of the main deck, one located in front of the upper deck and one on the back of the upper deck. All comes with sun loungers, sun mats and bean bags. The decks allow guests to enjoy the breathtaking Maldivian scenery, both when sailing and while relaxing when the yacht is moored in the lagoons for the night.

Eco Blue also has a dive dhoni which is used to store equipment away from the main boat. There is also ample space to kit up and the dhoni allows divers to enter the water right above the many great dive spots.


Cabin

Eco Blue featuring 12 spacious guest cabins, it can accommodate 22 guests on board:

All cabins have ensuite-bathroom, air-conditioning, storage area, outlets, and other facilities.

4 Upper Cabins (#11 - 14):
Located on the lower deck, each cabin comes with a large double bed and an extra single bunk bed, window.

1 Deluze Cabins (#4):
Located on the lower deck, this cabin comes with a large double bed and a sofa, portholes.

7 Standard Cabins (#1 - 3, 5 - 8):
Located on the lower deck, each cabin comes with a large double bed and an extra single bunk bed, portholes.


Diving

  • 17 dives per week, include 1 night, depends on conditions.

  • Only 2 dives will be provided on the day before departure.

  • No dive provided on the day of arrival and departure.

  • All diving will provide experienced guide to lead the dive.

Central Atolls

Which atolls: North Male, South Male, North Ari, South Ari, Vaavu, Rasdhoo.

When: All year round. Itineraries prepared and specific dive sites carefully chosen depending on the monsoon.

For who: All experience levels. No minimum number of dives required. Familiarity with drift dives recommended. Also snorkelers

Type of dives: Spectacular channel-drift dives, wrecks, pinnacles, world-famous night dives

Marine life: Divers will be astonished by the variety of marine life. From nudibranchs and eels, through schools of reef fish, eagle rays, sharks and turtles to manta rays and whale sharks.


Baa Atoll incl. Hanifaru Bay

Which atolls: NORTH MALE/ BAA/ RAA OR LHAVIYANI/NORTH-ARI ATOLL

When: Exact routing depends on the weather! We will choose the best routing!

For who: All experience levels. No minimum number of dives required. Snorkelers are welcome.

Type of dives: Mostly Thilas, few channels possible.

Marine life: Hanifaru Bay is a sanctuary for people who love snorkeling with manta rays and whale sharks. At Hanifaru Bay you can do snorkeling, diving is not permitted any more.


South to Thaa Atoll

Which atolls: South Male, Vaavu, Meemu, Thaa

For who: Advanced divers with minimum 50+ dives. Experience with drift dives required. Nitrox recommended!

Type of dives: Mostly channel dives. Sites exposed to strong or very strong currents.

Marine life: Mostly pelagic fauna. Reef sharks, whale sharks, mantas


Best of Maldives

Central Maldives

Period : Liveaboards only run trips year round, with the high season being from November to May.

Visa's : Visas are not required in advance but are issued on arrival. Travelers will be issued a 30 days visa free of charge with a passport of at least 6 months validity.

Climat : Northeast Season: December-April (dry monsoon). Southwest season May-November (wet monsoon). Temperatures are around 30˚ C and humidity is 60-80%. Cyclones are rare but possible in April/May and October/November. Average daily air temperature ranges from 28°C to 34°C throughout the year.

Water : Water temps stay consistent all year round at or above 27 °C through the central atolls, sometimes even reaching a balmy 30 °C. Because visibility is so clear, it is best to wear at least a rash vest for some sun protection underwater.

Clothing : Light airy clothes are perfect. Be prepared for plenty of sunshine most of the year.

Plugs : Type G, 2-pin electrical plugs with 230 V @ 50Hz

Flights : International flights arrive directly from many locations to Male. There are reliable and extensive domestic air carriers flying to many places within the country.

  • Alcohol and pork products are prohibited. A ‘reasonable quantity’ of tobacco is permitted.
  • A local Airport Development Charge (ADC) of US$25 for all international travellers over 2 years of age may be introduced shortly.

Currency : The Local currency is the Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR/Rf), but is rarely used on tourist resorts. Most transactions are made in US Dollars but other currencies are accepted. Travelers cheques and major credit cards are widely accepted but 5% may be added for credit card transactions. Banks in Male will cash travelers cheques into US Dollars and Rufiyaa may also be purchased. ATM’s can be found in Male.


North Maldives

Period : Liveaboards to the north Maldives run trips from September through to May every year.

Visa's : Visas are not required in advance but are issued on arrival. Travelers will be issued a 30 days visa free of charge with a passport of at least 6 months validity.

Climat : Northeast Season: December-April (dry monsoon). Southwest season May-November (wet monsoon). Temperatures are around 30˚ C and humidity is 60-80%. Cyclones are rare but possible in April/May and October/November. Average daily air temperature ranges from 28°C to 34°C throughout the year.

Water : Water temps stay fairly consistent all year round at 27°C, though cooler water can come in from the deeper waters surrounding these northern atolls, with the temp occasionally dropping to 24°C.

Clothing : Light airy clothes are perfect. Be prepared for plenty of sunshine most of the year especially from November to May.

Plugs : Type G, 2-pin electrical plugs with 230 V @ 50Hz

Flights : International flights arrive directly from many locations to Male. Domestic flights to and from Hanimaadhoo are needed to reach the vessels.

  • Alcohol and pork products are prohibited. A ‘reasonable quantity’ of tobacco is permitted.
  • A local Airport Development Charge (ADC) of US$25 for all international travellers over 2 years of age may be introduced shortly.

Water : Because of the deep water surrounding the southern atolls, water temperature range from a low of 24°C to a high of 27°C.

Clothing : Light airy clothes are perfect. Be prepared for plenty of sunshine during this time of the year

Plugs : Type G, 2-pin electrical plugs with 230 V @ 50Hz

Flights : International flights arrive directly from many locations to Male. There are regular flights south to both Kadhadoo Airport and Kahdheedhoo Airport.

  • Alcohol and pork products are prohibited. A ‘reasonable quantity’ of tobacco is permitted.
  • A local Airport Development Charge (ADC) of US$25 for all international travellers over 2 years of age may be introduced shortly.
