Best of Maldives (Central Atolls)

A mix of the best picks for divers and non-divers alike. Central atolls itineraries are available all year round and cover most of the reasons to fall in love in the Maldives. Divers of all experience levels are welcome and no minimum number of dives is required.

The encountered marine life varies from nudibranchs and eels, through schools of reef fish, eagle rays, reef sharks and turtles to manta rays and whale sharks.

Type of dives include channel dives, drift dives, pinnacles and walls, wreck dive and a world-famous night dives.

Far North

Our Far North itinerary offers you an experience like no other. Not only will you visit remote tropical locations off of the typical tourist grid, you'll also get to experience the most magnificent assemblage of manta rays in Hanifaru Bay.

Hanifaru Bay is based in the Baa Atoll, which is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve that facilitates sustainably led tourism and habitat protection for manta rays and whale sharks. This is a sublime spot for encounters with these ocean greats and makes this expedition a must if manta rays are your priority.

Besides once-in-a-lifetime manta experiences, the Northern atolls offer numerous pinnacles which come with their own unique topography and hidden treasures such as canyons, swim-throughs, and overhangs. During both these pinnacle and a few channel dives, you'll enjoy spectacularly diverse coral, reef life, and schools of fish.

Deep South

If you're an experienced, thrill-seeking diver looking for more challenging yet rewarding drives, venture with us to the deep southern atolls. Where the Maldives meets the equator, these unique parts of the Indian ocean provide exceptional diving, superb visibility, the most vibrant corals, and some of the best marine life encounters.

There are plenty of dive sights just waiting to be discovered, with corals virtually untouched by humans. This experience will be full of strong currents, deep caves, and unique coral formations. The temperate water and smaller reef fish attract larger pelagics, from reef to whale sharks.

Additionally, the Southern atolls' manta cleaning stations are hotspots for close encounters. Perfect for divers that hold advanced certificates and at least 100 logged dives, this is a superb way to take your diving experiences to the next level.

I was in one of the Manta Suites and was grateful for the extra space and 3m wide window looking out onto the ocean. Dolphin suites looked good too. Star sea rooms are surprisngly roomy and have some natural light. Cowrie also looks good and can fit 3 people comfortably. All the rooms have a large bathroom. But if you're claustrophobic - get a room on the maindeck with big windows. The rooms are clean and beautifully done. Bathrooms are pretty big with shampoo, soap etc. Totally delicious hot showers. No hairdryer but you can ask the crew to bring you one if needed. There is UK style power plugs but they had supplied a global adaptor in my room. The chef serves up delicious Asian dishes, as well as standard European fare. Healthy fruit desserts (originally disappointing, ultimately a good idea) are occasionally supplemented by ice cream and chocolate sauce or some other chocolate based scrumptiousness. The coffee is good! The team and crew are magnificent: professional, attentive and fun. The diving, for what i remember walls of fish surrounding me: mantas, turtles, friendly sharks, moray eels, and every colorful friendly fish in between. It's hard to believe you are on a dive boat. You can swap dives for massages to some extent - best to check the rules with the team. I had a 40 min back and shoulder massage and a 55min Balinese massage - Abi is a brilliant masseur. The Wifi on board worked well. Sure you needed to be somewhere where you could get reception. But we could all happily send each other photos, post to Facebook, Skype home, whatever. I hope this helps.
