Itineraries

Komodo 7D/6N

Day 1 : The Captain of Duyung Baru (Mrs Yani Korth) will await your arrival at the Airport/Labuan Bajo to assist with your baggage and accompany you onboard The Duyung Baru.

Onboard you will be introduced to the crew and given an orientation of the boat and be briefed about safe diving practices in the Komodo National Park sites. Around 11.30 am we will sail from Labuan Bajo to our first dive site at Sebayor Island.

Day 2 : We will continue to cruise to the center of Komodo ,also known as "current city" with visits to other dive sites on the eastern side of Komodo Island. Dive sites like Batu Bolong ,Tatawa Besar,Tatawa Kecil and Siaba. It will depend on the local wind and ocean conditions at the time and the strength of current.

Day 3 : Karang Makassar, this dive site also known as Manta Point due to the large schools of Manta Rays it attracts. Here you can observe the elegant creatures as they swoop and glide in their natural element. Max depth 15 meters

From our private mooring in a calm and peaceful Lagoon we will have easy access to the many dive sites located nearby. You will also have the possibility to revisit the Batu Bolong which you will have dived already on day two.

The Batu Bolong, one of Komodo Island's most renowned dive sites. The site is home to a thriving coral reef where you can see a diverse array of marine species, including Sharks, Napoleon wrasse and Manta rays.

Day 4 : We will sail to the northern tip of Komodo and set anchor at the twin islands of Gili Lawa Laut and Gili Lawa Darat. Here you can explore some of Komodo's most stunning and picturesque reefs, including such famous dive sites as Castle Rock, Lighthouse, Cauldron, Crystal Rock and Golden Passage -- each with an abundance of colorful and energetic sea life. Max Depth 30 meters. The final dive site location will depend on local conditions at the time and will be at the discretion of the dive instructor and captain.

Day 5 : Dive site Golden Passage is the longest drift dive in Komodo stretching 1km from east to west. Max depth 18 meters. You can expect extreme current here throughout the dive and you can see Black Tips Reef Sharks, Bumphead Parrot Fish. Towards the end of the drift you will arrive in a shallow bay which is more sheltered from the current and an ideal place for our safety stop. Dive site Cauldron, some people call it also The Sling-Shot or Fish-Bowl Max depth 21 meters. Dive site Castle Rock is an advanced dive site subject to extremely strong currents at most times. A negative entry is required here to a depth of about 20+meters. You can see many Giant Travallies and sharks and copious amounts of diverse marine species here. Max depth 30-35meters.

Towards sunset, you will enjoy a trek across the rugged hillside of Gili Lawa Darat where you can enjoy the stunning views of the multitude of islands clustered around Komodo.

Day 6 : Police Corner Siaba. We will moor here for the night as there is another Manta cleaning station near by for those of you who just can't get enough of these beautiful creatures. Alternatively Tatawa Kecil is another option should you be looking for non manta diving for your final diving experience here in Komodo.

Day 7 : Early in the morning we will visit the Ranger station in Rinja Island to see the famous Komodo Dragons. It will be a short trek with another beautiful view point over the Komodo national park. After this amazing experience you will be served breakfast and afterwards personally escorted to the Komodo International airport by Yani.

9 Days Komodo cruise

Should 7 days not be sufficient for your diving needs then we can also create a custom made 9 day itinerary for you. There are several options for the extensions here depending on your diving experience and interests. Should you be a regular Advanced open water diver then we can bring you to some different sites that are in the same general area but just not so well know as the big names like the Batu Bolong. Should you have fallen in love with the Manta Rays, Sharks and Giant travallies (as is normal) then it is also possible to simply revisit some of your personal favourite sites on these days.

West Komodo - For private charter only! We only recommend West Komodo for dive groups who absolutely love and are extremely experienced in diving in exceptionally strong current. So should your dive group have a true sense of adventure then we can take you to some of the less travelled to sites in West Komodo Marine Park. Here the currents are notorious, far more powerful than even Komodo. These sites have little to no dive charters operating here as they are just too far and too advanced for the average diver on a typical cruise. The sites here are just as beautiful and bountiful as Komodo but with virgin coral reefs and not another dive boat in site. Please note that this option is only accessible during the half moon periods. This particular expedition is also personally guided by Vovo, the owner of the Duyung Baru who has extensive knowledge of this complicated diving area.

9 Day Komodo Nusa Kode Macro Cruise

9 day trip - Should you wish to extend for a longer trip then we can offer you an alternate 9 day itinerary to include an extention to the far south of Komodo to Nusa Kode (only available from March to April and October to December so you can experience the optimum diving conditions)

I spent a week w my husband on Duyung Baru. This boat is beautiful and caters to four to six guests at a time. I quite enjoyed the small amount of guests and we were lucky to have a fun group of people. The boat is very comfortable with places to lounge, sun tan and star-gaze at night. You have everything you need in your cabin for a great stay! Yani's cooking is well-documented and lives up to its reputation! The meals have a tasty, home-cooked quality, made with love no less! Sitting together for meals made for a nice and warm atmosphere. The crew is discreet yet efficient. I very much appreciated the opportunity of choices and options that you get diving with a small and experienced group. Vovo asked us what we wanted at the start: currents, macro, dragons (or not!), mantas, etc.... and he made our wishes happen! This boat is tailored for experienced divers who do not require 'hand-holding' of their guide or a set, cookie-cutter itinerary ---I felt good not just being a number, having dived medium and large liveaboards in the past. If you want a relaxed diving experience in Komodo, then consider Duyung Baru!
