Description

Boat

Carina is a 33 meters long, 9 meters wide wooden vessel completely refurbished in 2012, and it follows a yearly check up. It has 406HP Yanmar marine engine, can cruises at 10 knots. Onboard, there is 220V power.

Carina has earned itself as a name being high standard boat with all the enmities a spoiled traveler might want. It is the ideal budget liveaboard with high standard for beautiufl Maldives.

Onboard, Divers can cruise around the atolls exploring the best dive sites in modern comfort, stopping to enjoy the peace and tranquility that is truly Maldives. It has attracts many repeaters from all over the world and the ultimate reward for any high-quality safari operation.

The chef will provide continental breakfast with lunch and dinner are usually served with a mix of Western and Asian food. The Bar facility in the Salon offers a choice of fresh fruit juice soft drinks, cocktails, liquors, wine and draft beer during the cruise.

The experienced dive guides will plan the dives according to the clients desire. It is very likely that you will see everything from the tiny colorful gobies to the huge gentle whale shark.

All diving is done from the dive dhoni boat, which provide comfort and function at the same time. All the equipment stay in the dive dhoni (compressors, tanks etc.) in order to keep the noise away from the main boat when filling the tanks.


Cabin

Carina has 10 guest cabins, it can welcome up to 20 guests per trip.

All cabins comes with air-conditioning, a mini bar, and en-suite bathroom.

Located on the lower deck, each cabin comes with one double bed and one single bed in bunk style, portholes.

5 Deluxe Cabin (#2 #4 #6 #8 #10):
Located on the lower deck, each cabin comes with one double bed and one single bed side by side, portholes.

1 Deluxe Cabin (#9):
Located on the lower deck, this cabin comes with one queen-size double bed, portholes.

North & South Male , Vaavu , South Ari & North Ari , Male

Many of the dives on the Best of Maldives | Classic Route, suitable for all levels of divers, however, unpredictable and strong currents are to be expected in certain areas. Inexperienced and beginner divers may find some dives challenging and may be asked by the Cruise Director to skip dives that are not suitable for their diving experience. On some dives, the recommended depth is below 18m therefore advanced or Deep Diver training is advised.

Manta Madness | 8D/7N (July till October)

Hanifaru Bay (Baa Atoll)

At Hanifaru Bay, you can do snorkeling, diving is not permitted anymore. During your snorkeling, you must keep a proper distance from whale sharks and manta rays, a radius of 3 meters from the head section of the whale shark and 4 meters at its tail is the minimum distance you must maintain. You should not approach the creature from the front or cross its path, stay at sides and swim with whale sharks. It is allowed to take pictures but without flash, you cannot use a scooter or motorized devices to tow yourself. Touching, stroking or even getting that close is prohibited and there are trained rangers monitoring your moves.

Deep South - 1 | 12D/11N or 15D/14N (February till April)

Huvadhoo is the second largest of the Maldivian atolls and the second largest in the world (in terms of overall surface area). It consists of a circular-shaped ring of reefs with a smaller, thumb-like, extension of at the northern end enclosing a deep central lagoon (up to 85 m in depth) that is studded throughout with numerous smaller patch reefs, coral knolls, faros, and small coral islets. The outermost reefs of the atoll form a discontinuous barrier to the open ocean made up from 40 reef segments separated from one another by deep passages connecting the open waters of the Indian Ocean with those of the interior lagoon, making for some fantastic diving and marine life sightings! Deep South famous for channel dives in current and drift dives for pelagic and big fish life. (Blue water dives and deep dives)

Diving at Nilandhoo Kandu sees divers likely to face the strongest current near the entrance of the channel and the drop-off.Expect to see mantas, leopard sharks, grey reef sharks, silky sharks, schools of barracudas, eagle rays, schools of jacks, and turtles on the sandy bottom. Nilandhoo Kandu is popular with ‘shark trips’ and underwater photographers.

Central Maldives

Best time for diving
December to April, Central Maldives is suitable for diving year-round, these months are the Northeast dry season, and it's the time for best visibility and weather condition.
The visibility range between 20 - 40 meters year-round. And the currents are usually mild to intermediate. Diving depth range from 10 - 40 meters.

About temperatures
Air : range between 27°C - 32°C year-round.
Sea : very stable and warm, range from 28°C - 30°C year-round.

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a dive Skin or 3 mm wetsuit throughout the year.

Diver requirement
Suitable for all levels, but to enjoy the best out of it, we recommend an AOW level with 30 dives.

North Maldives

Best time for diving
June to November, North Maldives offers great diving all year, especially in the Far North Atolls, you can expect sunny skies most of the year. And in Hanifaru Bay, each year during June to November is the famous cyclone feeding, which is a rare and spectacular event where over 100 manta rays can feed together and create a chain which the head of each manta ray touches the tail of the manta in front. This creates a huge spiral of up to 200 mantas along with their fellow plankton feeders the Whale Shark.

Sea : very stable and warm, range from 27°C - 29°C year-round.

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a dive Skin or 3 mm wetsuit throughout the year.

Best time for diving
December to April offers the best visibility and sea conditions. Although short spells of heavy rainfall can be experienced during the summer months, but this region do offer good diving all year round.

About temperatures
Air : range between 28°C - 32°C year-round.
Sea : very stable and warm, range from 27°C - 29°C year-round.

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a dive Skin or 3 mm wetsuit throughout the year.

Diver requirement
Suitable for divers have AOW level with good drift diving experience, as there can be strong currents in the channels surrounding the islands.
