Description

Boat

Carpe Diem is a 35 meters long, 10 meters wide wooden dive liveaboard, it was built in 2008 and powered for comfort, safety and stability. It is diesel-powered, cruise at 10 knots and have 220-volt power onboard.

On the top sundeck there is a 115 sqm open space, which is partially shaded and has a sitting area in the middle and some lounge chairs to catch that nice tan.

On the upper deck, there is in house library, an office and the dive rental equipment room. As well as the main open air dining and bar area which is located at the back of the boat where you will be served semi buffet meals prepared by our fine dining chef.

The main deck have the main briefing area and lounge area, with a coffee / tea table offering you coffee/tea and drinking water 24 hours a day. It also has a wide flat screen TV, DVD/MP3 player.

Outside of the lounge area there is another sitting area in the shade with comfortable cushions, where you could have your afternoon tea while cruising and taking in the beautiful colours of the Indian Ocean.

Furthermore the main deck has the kitchen, laundry room and another open air sitting area at the back of the boat.

Carpe Diem further stand out is the service provided by a dedicated crew, some of which have been with the company for a many years. Clients that have come back described it as “coming home”.

In addition, all diving is done from the dive dhoni boat, which provide comfort and function at the same time. All the equipment stay in the dive dhoni (compressors, tanks etc.) in order to keep the noise away from the main boat when filling the tanks.


Cabin

Carpe Diem has 10 comfortable guest cabins, it can accommodate up to 20 guests per trip :

All cabins have have individually controlled AC, safety deposit boxes, their own private bathroom, hair dryers. The electricity voltage on board is of 220V and the plugs are of 3 pins UK type.

1 Suite Cabin :
Located on the upper deck, with over 20sqm in size, has a king size bed, a wide flat screen TV plus DVD/MP3 player and an ample closet plus storage space, with 5 seaview windows.

1 Deluxe Cabin :
Located opposite the suite on the upper deck, with a queen size double bed, flat screen TV plus DVD/MP3 player and 3 seaview windows.

2 High Standard Cabins :
Located on the main deck, which are a little smaller than the deluxe cabin on the upper deck and standard cabins on the lower deck. They have queen size double beds and window view. Further amenities TV plus DVD/MP3 players and 2 seaview windows

4 Standard Cabins :
Located on the lower deck, with a queen double bed and single bed in bunk style, portholes.

2 Standard Cabins :
Located on the lower deck, with two single beds side by side or one double bed, portholes.


Diving

  • 2 to 3 dives per day, 1 - 2 night dives per week.
  • No dive on the embarkation and disembarkation day.
  • Only 1 - 2 dives will be provided on the last diving day.
  • All diving will provide experienced guide to lead the dive.

Itineraries

CLASSICAL ROUTING I (7 NIGHTS)

Atolls: North Male – Rasdhoo – Ari – Vaavu – South Male

Saturday: Male. Guests board vessel around 1 pm or 3 pm; welcome briefing, documents; check out dive.

Sunday: North Male 1 dive; Rasdhoo 2 dives. Approximately 3 hr crossing from North Male to Rasdhoo. Nights spent anchored.

Monday - Tuesday: Ari, 3 dives. Night anchored

Wednesday: Ari, 2 dives and cross to Vaavu for night dive.

Thursday: Vaavu, 2 dives and cross to South Male 1 dive.

Friday: South Male 2 dives maximum depending on guest flight schedules and the 24 hour requirement before flying and return to Male.

Saturday: Depart the vessel latest by 8 am. Due to the necessity of readying the vessel for our next cruise, we must strictly enforce this early departure.


CLASSICAL ROUTING II (7 NIGHTS)

Atolls: North Male – Ari – Meemu – Vaavu – South Male

Saturday: Male. Guests board vessel around 1 pm or 3 pm; welcome briefing, documents; check out dive.

Sunday: North Male, 2 dives; Ari, 1 dive. Approximately 3 hr crossing from North Male to Ari. Night spent anchored.

Monday - Tuesday: Ari 3 dives including night dive. Night spent anchored

Wednesday: Ari, 1 dive. Cross to Meemu. Meemu 2 dives. Night spent anchored

Thursday: Meemu 1 dives; cross to Vaavu 2 dives including night dive. Cross to South Male.

Friday: South Male, 2 dives maximum depending on guest flight schedules and the 24 hour requirement before flying.

Saturday: Depart the vessel latest by 8 am. Due to the necessity of readying the vessel for our next cruise, we must strictly enforce this early departure.

DEEP SOUTH SHARK ITINERARY I
Atolls: North Male – South Male – (South Ari) – Vaavu – Meemu – Thaa – Laamu – Huvadhoo – Foammulah – Gan (10/11 nights)

Our unique 10 or 11 night trips will be either starting from Male and ending all the way past the equator in Addu or the reverse, starting from Addu and ending in Male. Guests will require a domestic flight back after the trip from Gan (Addu) to Male airport or from Male airport to Gan to join the boat.

DEEP SOUTH SHARK ITINERARY II
Atolls: North Male – South Ari – Vaavu – Meemu – Thaa – Laamu – Huvadhoo (10 NIGHTS)

These routings take place during peak high season (February/March/April) when the currents are at its strongest and visibility at its best to enjoy the abundance of sharks the Maldives has to offer.

This trip will start in Male atoll after which we cruise to South Ari atoll, at the end of the trip you will fly back by domestic flight from Kooddoo airport to Male.

FAR NORTH EXPLORATION
Atolls: North Male – Lhaviyani – Noonu – Shaviyani – Haal Alif – Shaviyani – Raa – Baa – Ari – (Vaavu – South Male)(11 or 14 nights)

We have come up with a unique routing that nobody else is doing yet, starting and ending in Male to avoid domestic flights needed. Due to the additional distance we will cover there will be an extended cruise range surcharge and the minimum amount of nights needed to do this trip is 11 nights or more.

MANTA TRIP I
Atolls: North Male – South Male – Vaavu – Ari – Rasdhoo – Baa (7 nights)

The above 7 night routing is designed to be able to visit all the by manta frequented spots and lagoons including famous Hanifaru Bay in Baa atoll during the summer months (July/August/September/October). The trips are either ending or starting in Baa atoll, which means a one way domestic flight will be needed at the start or the end of the trip.

MANTA TRIP II
Atolls: North Male – Baa – Raa – Baa – Rasdhoo – Ari ( 7 nights)

Central Maldives

Best time for diving
December to April, Central Maldives is suitable for diving year-round, these months are the Northeast dry season, and it's the time for best visibility and weather condition.
The visibility range between 20 - 40 meters year-round. And the currents are usually mild to intermediate. Diving depth range from 10 - 40 meters.

About temperatures
Air : range between 27°C - 32°C year-round.
Sea : very stable and warm, range from 28°C - 30°C year-round.

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a dive Skin or 3 mm wetsuit throughout the year.

Diver requirement
Suitable for all levels, but to enjoy the best out of it, we recommend an AOW level with 30 dives.

North Maldives

Best time for diving
June to November, North Maldives offers great diving all year, especially in the Far North Atolls, you can expect sunny skies most of the year. And in Hanifaru Bay, each year during June to November is the famous cyclone feeding, which is a rare and spectacular event where over 100 manta rays can feed together and create a chain which the head of each manta ray touches the tail of the manta in front. This creates a huge spiral of up to 200 mantas along with their fellow plankton feeders the Whale Shark.

Air : range between 27°C - 32°C year-round.
Sea : very stable and warm, range from 27°C - 29°C year-round.

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a dive Skin or 3 mm wetsuit throughout the year.

Diver requirement
Suitable for all levels, but to enjoy the best out of it, we recommend an AOW level with 30 dives. For the Far North Atolls, currents can be strong with choppy wave action, we recommend only for experienced divers.

December to April offers the best visibility and sea conditions. Although short spells of heavy rainfall can be experienced during the summer months, but this region do offer good diving all year round.

Air : range between 28°C - 32°C year-round.
Sea : very stable and warm, range from 27°C - 29°C year-round.

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a dive Skin or 3 mm wetsuit throughout the year.

Diver requirement
Suitable for divers have AOW level with good drift diving experience, as there can be strong currents in the channels surrounding the islands.

For the Deep South Atolls (Laamu atoll, Gaafu Alifu atoll, Huvadhoo atoll, Fuvahmulah, Addu atoll), domestic flights are usually required to Addu atoll (GAN), Gaafu Alifu atoll (GKK), Huvadhoo atoll (KDM) or Fuvahmulah (FVM). Longer trips like 2 weeks might depart or return to Male.
