Quino el Guardian

Boat

Quino el Guardian is a 27.5 meters long, 7 meters wide dive liveaboard, fully refurbished in 2015, it is extremely seaworthy and is approved by both the US Coast Guard and the Mexican Coast Guard, runs by the same team who runs the Rocio Del Mar.

Quino el Guardian is a specialty vessel designed for scuba diving, conservation, education, scientific research, and unique charters such as Citizen Science programs, videography workshops, rebreather diving and teaching children how to save our oceans etc.

There is air conditioning throughout all interior areas for everyone’s comfort, a large indoor dining area that comfortably accommodates all passengers with a projector and a drop-down screen for group presentations. A indoor salon with sofas, a TV, a computer table set up, books and DVD’s.

The meals onboard will start with a heavy continental breakfast with bagels, toast, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereals, fresh juices, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. After the first dive, there is an American style breakfast consisting of pancakes, waffles, eggs, breakfast meats, and potatoes. After the second dive guest will come back to a hearty lunch that starts with a home-made soup followed by a plated meal such with fish, beef or chicken, fresh vegetables, home-made pasta salads, burgers, fish tacos, and more. In the mid afternoon our chef will prepare a lovely snack with items such as mini sandwiches, sliced cheese and meats, nachos, guacamole, etc. The day will end with a wonderful, three course dinner that starts with a salad, a main course with seafood, beef, chicken or pork cooked with savory spices, paired with vegetables, pastas and potatoes. Desserts are a sweet surprise made fresh daily.

Quino el Guardian also provides complimentary beverages throughout the day including canned soft drinks, and beer & wine after your last dive of the day.

The huge, well organized dive deck comes with gear storage for all your diving equipment, spacious camera table with lots of power outlets, rinse showers, easy access to the inflatable pangas etc.

Onboard power is 110V, just like in the U.S., please bring your own plug converter.

Cabin

Quino el Guardian has 5 basic guest cabins, it can accommodates up to 16 guests per trip：

All cabins have air conditioning, additional storage under the beds, reading light, power outlet (110V) etc.

4 Quad Cabins：
Located on the lower deck, each cabin comes with 2 sets of bunk beds, each bed has a privacy curtain, there are 4 large drawers, portholes.

1 Twin Cabin：
Located on the lower deck, this cabin comes with 2 single beds in bunk style, each bed has a privacy curtain, there are 2 large drawers, portholes.

4 Shared Bathrooms：
All the guests will use the shared bathrooms, located on the dive deck.
Each bathroom comes with a full size shower, toilet, sink and storage area.

Diving

• 3 to 4 dives per diving day, depending on conditions.

• All divers must have a submersible console (SMB).

• No dive provided on the day of arrival and departure.

• All diving will provide experienced guide to lead the dive.

• Divers must reach AOW with at least 50 logged dives for Socorro.

Socorro Islands - 10D/9N

Day 0 : Arrive at Los Cabos San Lucas (SJD), spend the night at a local hotel. (Arrangements on your own).

Day 1 : Board the boat between 5pm - 7pm, dinner is served at 7pm, relax on board the boat, the Quino El Guardian will departs at approximately 10pm. The crossing from Los Cabos San Lucas to the Socorro Islands takes approximately 26-28 hours. It is open sea so please be prepared in case we are faced with rough seas.

Day 2 : Traveling on the Sea, cruising to San Benedicto

Day 3 : San Benedicto Island, 4 dives scheduled

Day 4 : Socorro Island, 3 dives scheduled (check in with Naval Station)

Day 5 : Socorro Island, 4 dives scheduled

Day 6 : Roca Partida Island, 3 dives scheduled

Day 7 : Roca Partida Island, 3 dives scheduled

Day 8 : Benedicto, 4 dives scheduled. At the end of this day we will start our departure to San Jose del Cabo

Day 9 : Arrive at San Jose del Cabo around 11pm. Guests may sleep on the boat.

Day 10 : After breakfast, disembark by 8:30am.

Sea of Cortez - Midriff Islands - 8D/7N

Day 1 : Embark at 5pm in Puerto Peñasco. Depart at 6pm

Day 2 : Wake up at Refugio Bay on Angel Island. Potential Dive sites: Angel Rock, La Vela, Lolo’s Cove, Sunset Zodiak Cruise with Sea Lions.

Day 3 : Angel Island. Potential Dive sites: Andrea’s Eagle, El Aquario, Las Vivoras, Las Vivoras including a night dive

Day 4 : San Pedro Martir. Potential Dive sites: El Arroyo, Punta Martir (Sea Lions), Chayo’s Cove

Day 5 : San Pedro Martir. Potential Dive sites: Ravijunco, Xareni’s Pinnacle, Coromel, Morrito. In afternoon we go looking for whales!

Day 6 : Salsipuedes & Animas. Potential Dive sites: Los Cuervos, El Caballo, In Animas, El Lavadero, El Lavadero including a night dive

Day 7 : Baja and Snorkeling with Whale Sharks in Bahia De Los Angeles. Potential Dive sites: El Pescador, Baja Ca. Start heading back to Puerto Penasco in afternoon.

Day 8 : Disembark at 7am

Sea of Cortez - Explore Baja Expeditions - 13D/12N

Day 1 – Check in at boat at 5:00pm in San Jose Del Cabo
Day 2 – Cabo Pulmo
Day 3 – Isla Cerralvo
Day 4 – Los Islotes, Shipwreck “Fang Ming”, visit La Paz for the afternoon
Day 5 – Dora’s Pinnacle in the morning, Los Islotes in the afternoon, Ensenada Grande and Mobula night dive
Day 6 – Animas
Day 7 – Coronado, walk Loreto Mission Square in the evening
Day 8 – Isla Alfonso
Day 9 – San Pedro Martir
Day 10 – Animas and Salsipuedes
Day 11 – Bahia De Los Angeles – Snorkeling with Whale Sharks, El Pescador
Day 12 – Angel Island
Day 13 – Disembark 8:30am in Puerto Penasco
The trip can be run in a reverse way, from Puerto Penasco to San Jose Del Cabo.
