Sea Star is a deluxe standard liveaboard, offering dive & leisure sailing trips in the Seychelles according to the seasons, It can accommodate up to 18 guests.

Boat

Sea Star was built in 2002, it is a three-masted 40-metre long, 8.2-meter wide wooden yacht with five Bermuda sails, 2 x 500 HP Iveco engines, it cruises at 9 knots per hour.

Sea Star has a stylish air-conditioned bar & lounge offers an inviting atmosphere to relax or enjoy an evening aperitif, while its adjacent dining salon is the stage for any number of Creole and international delights from our chef, with three course dinner services or buffet meals served throughout the week. Al fresco dining can also be offered on the covered back deck and lounge area.

The forward sun decks and large deck area at the bow provide a great deal of open space to sunbathe and unwind, and the rear platform allows easy access to the water for swimming and snorkelling.

Sea Star always has a dedicated PADI dive instructor onboard to accommodate the needs of both seasoned and novice divers alike. Introductory dives for first-timers, and even Open Water or Advanced diving courses can be conducted onboard. There are two dive compressors, 18 cylinders and refills, weights, assorted wet suits (shorties) and 8 full diving sets for hire.

Sea Star also equipped with a variety of watersports facilities, including kayaking, water-skiing, ring riding and snorkelling masks and fins. We also offer the opportunity to enjoy traditional bottom-line fishing in certain areas, with our chef ready to prepare fresh Seychelles-style sashimi or grilled fish in the event of a successful catch.

Sea Star offering guest the experience combines the advantages of a smaller, private vessel, with a service level more akin to that of a hotel. The friendly crews consist of a captain, engineer, 2 deckhands, 3 stewardesses as well as a dive instructor and a dedicated chef, who prepares an enticing blend of international fare as well as exotic local Creole cuisine on a daily basis.

The curise itineraries offer a well-rounded mix of activities, from snorkelling and diving to guided island visits and nature walks, while also affording time to enjoy some of the world’s best beaches and the gentle sway of the ocean, as we cruise from island to island, anchoring overnight in amazing coves and bays.

Sea Star has 9 spacious guest cabins, it can accommodate up to 18 guests per trip:

All cabins are air-conditioned with ensuite bathroom, ample storage space, outlets, and other facilities.

1 Honeymoon Suite :
Located on the lower deck, this is the largest cabin onboard, comes with one double bed, portholes.

4 Double Cabins :
Located on the lower deck, each cabin comes with one double bed, portholes.

4 Double/Twin Cabins :
Located on the lower deck, each cabin comes with one double bed and one single bed in bunk style, portholes.

Itineraries

November to April 8D/7N

DAY 1 : Embarkation at the Inter-Island Quay at 1030hrs, followed by the Captain's welcome briefing. Depart Port Victoria at 1200hrs, sailing from Mahé to a late afternoon anchorage at Round Island, just off the isle of Praslin. In the evening, introduce yourself to Creole cuisine with a welcome barbecue dinner onboard.

DAY 2 : Disembark on Praslin, Seychelles' second-largest inhabited island, for a visit to the famous World Heritage Site, the Vallee de Mai Nature Reserve. Explore the valley's eerie pathways beneath its canopy of massive palms, before returning onboard for afternoon opportunities to dive, snorkel or enjoy other water sports.

DAY 3 :A morning sail brings the vessel to La Digue, a sleepy island community where ox-carts and bicycles still remain the most common mode of transportation throughout the island. Explore the entire island by bicycle, perhaps stopping by Union Estate, a sprawling network of traditional island activities, including a copra mill, vanilla plantation, and shipyard.

DAY 4 : In the morning the vessel sails toward Grande Soeur and Petite Soeur (the Sisters) for excellent snorkeling and diving, and for a relaxing visit of these unique and completely uninhabited tropical islands. In the afternoon, visit Coco Island, one of Seychelles’ tiny granite jewels, a fantastic spot for snorkeling within a kaleidoscope of tropical fish.

DAY 5 : Sail to Booby Island for a morning of diving and water sports. After lunch, sail to Aride Island, a globally important nature reserve with more native bird species than any other island, including five endemics and the world's largest population of 3 species (Lesser Noddy, Audubon's Shearwater and Seychelles Warbler) to walk along a spectacular nature trail.

DAY 6 : In the morning disembark at Curieuse for a visit of this virtually uninhabited island. Experience the island's vast mangrove forests and its giant tortoise farm, along with the historic ruins of this former leper colony. After a barbecue lunch on the island, enjoy an array of water sports or simply relax and enjoy the island's beautiful beach and turquoise waters.

DAY 7 : After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely sail back towards Mahé, with a last stop at Ile Seche for more snorkeling or diving, followed by a farewell barbecue. The vessel overnights in the Ste Anne Marine Park.

DAY 8 : After an early breakfast, disembarkation is at 08.30 at the Inter Island Quay, Victoria, Mahe.


May to October 8D/7N

DAY 1 : Embarkation at the Inter-Island Quay at 1030hrs for official welcome and briefing by the captain. DAY 2 : Sail to the beautiful Baie Ternay Marine Park and Nature Reserve on the western coast of Mahé, where calm, crystal clear waters provide for excellent snorkeling and diving during the day. An afternoon sail back to Beau Vallon Bay positions the vessel in one of the island's best places to watch the countless shades of pink and orange of a Seychelles sunset.

DAY 3 : In the morning disembark at Curieuse for a visit of this virtually uninhabited island. In the afternoon sail to Anse Lazio, one of the most beautiful beaches in Praslin, and arguably, all of Seychelles – a perfect place for swimming, snorkeling and other water sports.

DAY 7 : Sail towards Cousin Island off the coast of Praslin, for a morning visit of this strictly protected nature reserve, famed for its sea bird colonies and also as a sanctuary for Seychelles' rare endemic land birds and other native species. In the afternoon the vessel begins its sail towards Mahé, anchoring overnight in the Ste Anne Marine National Park with its cluster of lush granite islands.

DAY 8 : After an early breakfast, disembarkation is at 08.30am at the Inter Island Quay, Victoria, Mahe.

Useful information

Seychelles

Best time for diving
April & May, October to December as during these months the weather condition is at the best, and the underwater visibility is also better than other months.
December to February are the rainy months but you can still enjoy some good dives, it's a year round destination.

About temperatures
Air : range between 24°C - 32°C year-round.
Sea : range from 25°C - 30°C year-round, with June & July being the coolest months.

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a 5 mm full wetsuit for June and July, then 3 mm wetsuit for the rest of the year. As thermoclines do happen from time to time.

Diver requirement
Suitable for all levels, but to enjoy the best out of it, we recommend an AOW level with 30 dives. Drift diving is common due to the stronger currents that occur in the southern islands. You can find out more informations about diving in Seychelles here : Seychelles

Embarkation / Disembarkation
The embarkation / disembarkation for Seychelles will be in Mahé, guests need to fly in/out to Seychelles International Airport (SEZ).

Visa Requirements
Seychelles is a visa-free country which means that there are no visa requirements for any persons wishing to travel.
Please refer to Republic of Seychelles - Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tourism for details.

Vaccinations
Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travellers over the age of 9 months arriving from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission.

Money Matters
The local currency is the Seychellois Rupee (SCR), all liveaboards accept cash payments in EUR or USD. Most hotel and tourist services accept euros and credit cards. ATMs only dispense SCR. You may not find ATMs beyond the major tourist areas of Mahé, Praslin or La Digue.

Drones
Drones can be brought into the Seychelles with pre-registration. To apply for registration please visit Drone Registration, it's free of charge.
