Somboon 4 is a 28 meters long, 6.5 meters wide scuba diving liveaboard yacht. It is a basic & economical budget dive liveaboard. The most flexible boat for a last minute booking and the best for a mini-liveaboard to the Similan Islands.

Somboon 4‘s principle is guest can check-in & check-out any day whenever it fits their holiday schedule. The boat can be a bit crowded sometimeds, especially during the day when some "day trippers" come on board, but it's well appointed and comfortable enough, very welll organised, and will suit anyone needing a short liveaboard or looking for bargain Similan liveaboards.

The upper deck has an outdoor covered dining area and an air conditioned salon with TV/DVD and some other entertainments.

The dive deck is spacious and well equipped with personal gear boxes, deck bathroom. The aft of the dive deck is equipped with exit ladders, fin storage and freshwater showers.

Somboon 4 runs trips in conjunction with her sister ship Somboon 3. Trips of 2,3,4,5 days possible, starting any day, though you may need to transfer from one boat to the other mid trip, depending on starting day.


Somboon 3 has 14 air-conditioned cabins with different cabin types for choose, it can host up to 28 guests per trip :

All cabins has air-conditioner, reading light, hair dryer, small storage area, electronic socket.

2 Double Bed Cabins :
Located on the main deck, with a double bed, and lots of sea view windows, use shared bathroom.

6 Twin Bed Cabins :
Located on the main deck, with two single beds, sea view windows, use shared bathroom.

2 Double Bed Cabins :
Located on the lower deck, with a double bed, portholes, use shared bathroom.

4 Twin Bed Cabins :
Located on the lower deck, with two single beds, portholes, use shared bathroom.

6 Shared Bathrooms : with toilet, wash basin and hot shower.


  • Up to 4 dives per day, depending on conditions/length of the cruise.

  • 2D/1N - 7 dives, 3D/2N - 11 dives, 4D/3N - 15 dives, 5D/4N - 19 dives..

  • No dive provided on the day of arrival, 2 or 3 dives on the departure day.

  • All diving will provide expericed guide to lead the dive.

Somboon 4 is the only few Phuket liveaboards that can offer the flexibility to fit almost any holiday schedule you can come up with.

Somboon 4 stay around the Similan Islands for the season, unlike other liveaboard boats that travel from and to Phuket on fixed schedules. We transfer new guests to our liveaboard boats by minibus and speedboat every day of the week.

Somboon 4 dives around the Similan every day of the week except Wednesdays and Sundays when she goes up to Surin island, Richelieu Rock, Koh Tachai and Koh Bon for the day. You can get on and get off the liveaboard boat 5 days a week and you get to go to Surin, Richelieu Rock and Koh Tachai as well as Similan and Koh Bon.

You tell us how long you would like to stay on our liveaboard boat when you book. 1 day, 2 days... 10 days+... up to you!

You can also extend your stay if you want; just check with the tourleader if we still have space available. On the last day of your liveaboard trip we transfer you back to Phuket again by speedboat and minibus.

Somboon 4 After finished dive at Koh Bon on Tuesday & Saturday, our boat runs up to Surin Island. Therefore we dive at Surin and Richelieu Rock every Wednesday and Sunday.

Does the trip cost include transfers from our hotel to the boat?

The trip cost includes transfers from your hotel to the boats and back if you stay in the following areas:
- Bang Nieng (Khao Lak)
- Nang Thong (Khao Lak)
- Patong (Phuket)
- Karon (Phuket)
- Kata (Phuket)
- Chalong (Phuket)

Below is a list of areas which does not include transfers. We can still transfer you if you stay in the following areas, but there will be a surcharge:

Useful information

Similan Islands

Period : Liveaboards run trips only when the park is open, from early November through to early May every year.

Visa's : Most nationalities do not require a visa for stays less than 30-days, some nationalities can recive a visa for 15 days upon arrival with 1,000 THB fee. However, please contact the Thai consulate nearest you for more updated information.

Climat : The sunny dry season runs from November to May, with April and May the warmest. The monsoon is from June through to September every year. Average temps stay constant around 28°C.

Water : Water temps stay at or above 27°C throughout the diving season, but there can be thermoclines where the temp drops down to 25°C.

Clothing : Light clothes are recommended throughout the year.

Plugs : Type A & C with 220 V @ 50Hz

Flights : International flights arrive daily directly Phuket International airport, along with many domestic daily flights from Bangkok and other part of Thailand.

Currency : Local currency is the Thai Baht (THB). Banks change currencies from all over the world at good rates. There are also many ATMs distributed throughout the country and credit cards are accepted nearly everywhere.
