Description

Boat

Sea Safari 8 is a 34.35 meters long, 10 meters wide Phinisi Buginese Schooner, made of Ulin wood, built in 2003, it has 4 engines and cruise around 7 ~ 10 knots/hour.

Sea Safari 8 has both comfort and style as a luxurious sailing boat with modern facilities. It is based all year in Sorong Harbour, Raja Ampat and makes regular trips to North and South Raja Ampat.

Sea Safari 8 features a beautiful roomy air conditioned salon on the upper deck, with comfortable sofas, a flat screen TV, DVD player, computer/camera station, a stereo player, karaoke system and an assortment of movies, CDs and books.

Outside of the indoor salon, there is an outside open shaded lounge area, with comfortable sofa sittings, tables, a wet bar that can provide guests drinks while relaxing and a great view.

On the top sun deck, there are lots of chaise longues for sun bathing and relaxing.

Sea Safari 8 has an independent dining located on the main deck, with lots of sittings, air conditioner, and completed with TV and DVD.

The dive deck located at the front of the main deck, it is spacious and well equipped with personal gear lockers, an in place-fill station and a camera table with low pressure hoses.


Cabin

Sea Safari 8 has 12 guests cabins, it can welcome up to 24 guests :

All cabins have private bathroom, air conditioner, storage area, hair dryer, safety box, and hand sanitizer.

4 Deluxe Double Cabins:
Located on the main deck, each cabin comes with a double bed, seaview windows.

2 Standard Double Cabins:
Located on the lower deck, each cabin comes with a double bed, portholes.

4 Standard Twin Cabins:
Located on the lower deck, each cabin comes with two separated single beds, portholes.

1 Standard Twin Cabins:
Located on the lower deck, this cabin comes with two single beds in bunk style, portholes.

1 Standard Twin Cabin:
Located on the lower deck, this cabin comes with two set of bunk beds, portholes. This cabin is used as twin share cabin.


Diving

  • 3 dives per day + alternating additional night dives.
  • No dive on the embarkation and disembarkation day.
  • Only 1 - 2 dives will be provided on the last diving day.

Itineraries

Sea Safari 8 is based in Sorong and traverses to Raja Ampat Islands, Cendrawasih Bay, and surrounding islands.


Raja Ampat 10D/9N

Day 1 : Sorong
Arrive in Sorong Jeffman Airport. Our representative will be waiting outside the arrival hall and ready to escort you the ship for immediate boarding. Cabin allocation and ship orientation will take place before departure. Take this opportunity to familiarize yourselves with the vessel, make yourself comfortable.

Day 2 : Missol – Fiabacet
Dive : 3 day dives + 1 night dive.
Whale rock is the westernmost dive area of the Fiabacet chain, arguably the most beautiful tropical reef system on the planet. Especially when viewed from the south, the largest Fiabacet island looks like a caricature of an enormous whale floating at the surface. This is also the best opportunity to observe interesting juvenile fish, nudibranch and other invertebrates. In the Middle of the Fiabacet. The submerged east point of Nudi rock is undoubtedly one of the top dives in Raja ampat. Here you can watch colonies of Convict Blennies huddle around sea fans while large Green and Hawksbill Turtles glidge through the blue. Myrad species of soft coral and sea fans cascade down the slope and smaller animals like Decorator Crabs and Cleaner Shrimp abound.

Day 3 : Missol - Boo
Dive : 3 day dives + 1 night dive
We will spend our day by exploring Boo rock and Boo Point east, where we can see large Napoleon Wrasse and Green Turtles . Boo rock is best known for the ‘’windows’’ or rounded openings on the southern end of the largest rock that completely pierce the reef from the surface down to about five meters. Although the two rocks appear separate from the surface, they are connected underwater by a magnificent reef draped in soft corals and brimming with fish.

Day 4 : Missol – Farondi
Dive : 2 - 3 day dives
To the west side of Farondi we will through the sea tunnel and then exiting on Farondi’s wall. Continue the descend to about 30 meters where the tunnel ends on the wall. There is a cave at about 15 meters depth. Explore the wall and floor of the cave for interesting invertebrates like crabs, flatworms and sea spiders.

Day 5 : Penemu Island
Dive : 3 day dives + 1 night dive + trekking
Melissa’s Garden, Barracuda Reef, Galaxy, Anita’s Garden. All of these dive sites offer world class diving, fantastic corals and a huge amount of fish. Because the substrate at Melissa’s Garden is exceedingly delicate, absolute attention to good buoyancy is required. Also this is a good chance to trek to one of the most famous view points in the region.

Day 6: Wayag
Dive : 3 day dives + 1 night dive + trekking
Part of the 155,000 hectare Kawe Marine Protected Area, There will be a hill climb to overlook Wayag’s beautiful lagoon. The dive site here have interesting names like Two Hump Rock, and Far Out Rock. Expect to see masses of fish, and some currents depending on the tides. There may be a chance of seeing Tuna out in the blue. We will also do the more interesting sites like Figure 8 Rock, Channel Island and Cathedral Rock, if currents are mild.

Day 7 : Airborek – Manta
Dive : 3 day dives + 1 night dive
There is a place called Manta point in supernal Arborek Dampier straits, where you can dive and be accompanied by several tame Manta Rays. There, the lovers dive will be easily to see fish with this body gigantis. Manta ray rotating bend-the body seems to be repeatedly acrobatic the amazing attraction. Waves caused swing the wing of the giant mammals that fly in the water depth is also enough to make divers oscillate. This fish usually live in groups have current downpours. Plankton and jellyfish is a delicious meal for the Manta.

Day 8 : Mioskon – Blue Magic
Dive : 3 day dives + 1 night dive
Explore Mios Kon reefs, our campsite island reefs. A slope ranging from 1 – 30 meters with abundant coral growth, these reefs have become house for many different kinds of fish.

Day 9 : Kri
Dive : 2 day dives Kri is a great start for the cruise with the most fish and coral species accounted on a single divesite. The reefs in this area are protected by Max Ammer from the Papua Diving Resort. Truly pristine reefs, you will want to dive these sites around this island again and again.

Day 10 : Sorong
After breakfast, prepare for disembarkation. Be ready to leave the boat and you will be transferred to Sorong Airport.

Useful information

Raja Ampat

Best time for diving
Mid October to April, the wind then picks up in May until the end of August, causing rougher seas and this means Misool area in the south will be shut from June to September. From July until September the diving in the north still can be enjoyable. The visibility can vary from 10 - 30 meters, current can be from mild to strong at times.

About temperatures
Air : fairly constant between 25°C - 31°C year-round.
Sea : it is warm all year round, about 27°C - 31°C

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a 3 mm full wetsuit throughout the year.

Embarkation / Disembarkation
Most of the embarkation / disembarkation will be in Sorong (SOQ).
Few liveaboards also departs from Waisai (RJM).
The easiest to fly through to & from Sorong (SOQ) via Jakarta (CGK), Makassar (UPG), Bali (DPS), or Manado (MDC).

Visa Requirements
Indonesia offers a free visa on arrival service for many nationalities which allows visitors to stay in the country for up to 30 days. A list of countries that are eligible for visa on arrival can be found on the Indonesian Government's Directorate General of Immigration.

Please note: Immigration officials in Indonesia may ask for proof of onward travel (e.g. a return or onward air ticket).

Vaccinations
Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travellers over the age of 9 months arriving from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission.

Money Matters
The local currency is Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), all liveaboards accept cash payments in USD.
Rupiah can be purchased from all major banks and exchange outlets. Credit and debit cards are also accepted in major hotels, restaurants & shops.

Cenderawasih Bay

Best time for diving
Mid June to early November, diving is possible year-round, the plankton bloom usually happens between September and early April which attract the whale sharks even more, but you can see them in the bay year round. Liveaboards usually offer trips in Cenderawasih bay when other Indonesian sites are affected by inclement weather between June to October. Visibility can be between 10 - 35 meters here with mild currents.

Air : generally ranges between 25°C - 32°C year-round.
Sea : it is warm all year round, about 27°C - 30°C

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a 3 mm full wetsuit throughout the year.

Embarkation / Disembarkation
Depending on which itinerary you choose, the embarkation / disembarkation can be in Manokwari (MKW), Nabire (NBX), Biak (BIK). The international airport with the best connections is Jakarta (CGK).

However, some live­aboard trips will combine Cenderawasih bay with other destinations like Raja Ampat, then the embarkation and disembarkation will be different. So please ask our agent to know the exact port for your trip.
