Coron Wrecks
Coron is in the province of Palawan on Busuanga Island. It is the largest town on the island and opposite of the island of Coron – the ancestral homeland of the Tagbanuas, a native tribe. It is part of the Calamianes Group of Islands and located southwest of Mindoro Island, Philippines.
On September 24, 1944 this island was a witness to the US Navy's aerial bombardment of several Japanese cargo and support vessels, which had sought shelter in this protected bay. The American attacks resulted in the sinking of at least ten vessels which have now become a sanctuary for a variety of marine creatures that call these wrecks their home.
Forbes Traveler magazine lists Coron as one of the ten best dive sites in the world. The scenery is simply stunning and the wrecks can be dived all year round.
An Ideal combination is to add a cruise to Apo Reef to experience fantastic reef and wreck diving all in one trip! Techies will love to combine Coron with a trip to El Nido for great cave diving!
Please check out our detailed dive-site descriptions and trip options for more. liveaboard philippinesThere are also caverns, lakes, hot springs, mountain hikes, wildlife tours anThis tour is about 45 minutes by outrigger boat from the town of Salvacion.
Four old church bells called the "Concepcion Bells" dating back to the 1800s can also be found near the Catholic Church in the town of Concepciond waterfalls on the islands to enjoy.
For history buffs, Busuanga offers some interesting sites such as the ruins of a naval base (the Panlaitan Old Naval Camp) provides a glimpse into Palawan's history.
You can easily combine your live-aboard trip on Rags II with a land adventure – or a relaxing vacation in one of the most beautiful areas the Philippines has to offer. Coron also has its own airport, so you could start (or finish) your vacation with a local flight
