Description

Boat

Oktavia is a beautiful wooden boat which is 30 meter long, 6.5 meter wide and weighing in at 150 tons, cruise at 8 up to 10 knots. It was built in 2003 then modified and refurbished again in 2007.

Oktavia was originally built to hold 33 guests, but in order to provide guests the maximum comfort and space, this boat limited the guest capacity to just 22 people per trip. This means even when the boat is fully booked, there will still be a lot of space for everyone. And due to its big size, the cruising will be very comfortable, even when the sea gets a bit rough.

Oktavia provide adventure cruising with a complete experience with diving, snorkeling, beach runs, island excursions, jungle walks, treasure hunts for the kids, marine life presentations, beach football and more. It's really suitable for everyone wants to experience an amazing liveaboard trip in the Similan Islands.

On the upper deck, which is also called the ‘party deck’, is equipped with media-PC, LCD TV, DVD/CD player, book exchange library and some board games, bar. During the meals time, it also can be used as a dining area which provide guests 3 main meals a day in buffet style and always include a vegetarian dish, snacks are normally served twice a day. For guests with special dietary requirements, just simply mention it at the time of booking, we will do the best we can to inform the chef in advance.

The large sundeck offers plenty of space for guests relax at the sun beds, the yoga mats, the comfortable armchairs and even a large sofa area. And part of the sundeck are shaded, so even those who have sensitive skin can come here and enjoy the freash air and beautiful sea view. In good weather guests have been known to sleep under the stars up here and as long as you’re not disturbing anyone you can too.

There is an equipment room which keeps all the Scubapro rental dive equipment on the boat, so there will be no problems with wrong sizes rental equipments, you can always change it during the cruise.


Cabin

Oktavia has 11 cabins in total, with different cabin types, it only accept a maximum of 22 guests.

All cabins have air-conditioning and equipped with fan, reading light, shelf unit, electrical outlets (running 220 volt), windows, sheets and towels.

2 Master Suites:
Located on th upper deck and stretching across the entire width of the boat, with 27 square meters in size. Feature a King size bed, individual air-conditioning, fan, desk, fridge, tv and lounge chairs. And inflatable spare beds are available, so that a family of 2 adults and 2 kids can fits comfortably in one master cabin.

4 Standard Double Cabins:
Located on the main deck, with one large double bed, use shared bathroom.

5 Standard Twin Cabins:
Located on the main deck, with two bunk beds, use shared bathroom.

4 Sharing Bathrooms:
European-style with hot showers as well as 3 showers on the dive platform.


Diving

  • Similan route: 6 Days / 5 Nights (19 Dives)

  • No dive provided on the day of arrival.

  • Fins/Mask/Snorkel can be provided free of charge.

  • All diving will provide expericed guide to lead the dive.

  • All divers should be trained to AOW or above level. (Or you should take AOW course on board)

Itineraries

Oktavia offering live-aboard trips to the Similan Islands of the following choices:

  • 6 Days & 5 Nights regular trip (Similan Islands and Surin National parks)
  • Shorter cruises of 2 or 3 days & nights
  • Cruises for snorkelers & sun worshippers as well as divers

If you choose to go for the 2D/2N trip, you will be transferred back to land by speedboat in the afternoon of the second day, and a taxi will bring you back to your hotel.

Guests joining us on the third day are picked up from their hotel in the morning and transferred to the M/V OKTAVIA at Similan Island by speedboat.

Days 3, 4 and 5 we are further north, at the famous and generally considered best dive sites in Thailand: Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock.

Arrive at Thaplamu Pier for ETD 18:30 to Similan Island 4 (overnight) on MV Oktavia.

Oktavia will try to fit 2/3 beach excursions per trip for around 1.5hrs where you can relax on the powdery sands, play a game of football or volleyball, or take a trek through to some scenic viewpoints. On the 4D/4N trips Day 1 & Day 2 are combined into one day with the best sites chosen and then you will follow on as Day 3 being Day 2 and so on…

  • 5D/5N charter : 19 dives
  • 5D/4N charter : 15 dives

The charter follows our normal route and includes the southern Similan Islands of 4-9 and takes in such dive sites as Elephant Head Rock, Annita’s Reef, North Point, Three Trees and goes into Donald Duck Bay. Later in the trip you head to Koh Bon, home to those majestic Manta Rays, before heading up to Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock where weather dependent you can dive here up to three times and have your fingers crossed to see the gently giant Whale Sharks.

There is a limit of a maximum of 22 guests in the following bed arrangements so please keep this in mind.

Useful information

Similan Islands

Period : Liveaboards run trips only when the park is open, from early November through to early May every year.

Visa's : Most nationalities do not require a visa for stays less than 30-days, some nationalities can recive a visa for 15 days upon arrival with 1,000 THB fee. However, please contact the Thai consulate nearest you for more updated information.

Climat : The sunny dry season runs from November to May, with April and May the warmest. The monsoon is from June through to September every year. Average temps stay constant around 28°C.

Water : Water temps stay at or above 27°C throughout the diving season, but there can be thermoclines where the temp drops down to 25°C.

Clothing : Light clothes are recommended throughout the year.

Plugs : Type A & C with 220 V @ 50Hz

Flights : International flights arrive daily directly Phuket International airport, along with many domestic daily flights from Bangkok and other part of Thailand.

Currency : Local currency is the Thai Baht (THB). Banks change currencies from all over the world at good rates. There are also many ATMs distributed throughout the country and credit cards are accepted nearly everywhere.
