Komodo 8D/7N Trip Itinerary

For Private Charter’s alternating routes please contact us to know more.

Komodo National Park includes the islands of komodo and Rinca, and tens of smaller islands that form an archipelago of extreme beauty, over and underwater. The presence of the unique Komodo dragon is obviously a highlight.

DAY 1 : The staff will pick you up at The Komodo International Airport of Labuan Bajo, located just a few minutes’ drive from the harbor, shortly you’ll be on board and we will set sail to The komodo National Park that is just a few miles away.

Depending on the landing time of your flight it may be possible to make an intro easy dive at Sebayor or at Tatawa, those are pretty current sheltered spots, you might not be diving for a while, and is good to start in a place where everybody can enjoy a nice and relaxed dive.

If your plane lands too late, we will do the first dive the next morning. The komodo Area due to the geological conformation is prone to relatively strong tidal currents, and most diving spots give their best at slack tide.

DAY 2 and DAY 3 : We will sail to Gili Lawa Laut, and get there before noon. Some great dive sites are all within easy reach. Accordingly with weather conditions and experience of the divers we will make our diving schedule, Crystal Rock, Castel Rock, The Passage, Culdrone are some of the dive sites we will explore. White tips, Black tips, Grey Reef Sharks, and Giant Trevally are pretty usual on most of the dives. It’s also a favorite hunting place for bottlenose dolphins that can be spotted often while diving.

After Diving you can relax in the sheltered bay, go for snorkeling, go on land for a walk, or paddling around with one of our kayaks.

DAY 4 : We will sail into the strait between Komodo and Rinca on the northern side there are a few amazing diving spots where Mantas and other Pelagic are often spotted, early afternoon we will anchor in front of pink beach, where we will spend the night, wonderful diving and snorkeling spot this small beach is close to the ranger station on Komodo Island. We will dive in the afternoon on the mini wall, the water is usually colder and visibility is not so great like in the rest of the park, but the richness of the marine life is astonishing, Frog Fish, Crocodile Fish, Mantis Shrimps, Burrowing Jaw fish are all common sights.

DAY 5 : In the morning we will go by speedboat to the Ranger Station where you can see the Komodo Dragons, you can choose different paths from mere 30 min walk to a more challenging tree hours walk, a guide will be provided by the Park Rangers. Is good to go as early as possible to avoid the intense heat. As soon as we get back to the boat we will set sail toward the south of Rinca We will spend the rest of the day sailing and we will anchor on Horseshoe bay before sunset.

DAY 6 : We will spend the day diving the area of Horseshoe bay. The Bay Its shaped as a horseshoe with Rinca Island forming the outer arc and Nusa Kode forming the inner arc is one of the magnificent areas, where Indian Ocean burst with richness of marine life. Sharks, barracuda, large coral blocks covered with lots of hard and soft corals, feather stars, nudibrachs and frogfish, nurse sharks, torpedo rays, special crabs like the Zebra crab, sea urchin shrimps, frogfish and scorpion fish are some of the highlights, the forest around the beach is pristine and Komodos are often spotted on the beach.

DAY 7 : Early in the morning we will set sail again and we will head north, along the cost of Rinca, early afternoon we will anchor in between some small islets covered with mangroves, the place is beautiful with some nice snorkeling, and the ideal place to enjoy a ride with the kayaks, but what makes this place special just becomes apparent shortly before sunset, when literally, hundredth of thousands Flying Foxes start to leave their hideaways in the mangroves and fly around in huge formations toward the island of Flores for feeding, this is a great way to enjoy spend one more sunset on board of Mantra.

DAY 8 : Early in the morning we will sail back to Labuan Bajo accordingly to your flight schedule.

This Itinerary can be changed accordingly to the weather conditions, not all the year around is possible to cover the same route, but many other spots are available in the area, and we are also more than happy to customize the trip accordingly with our guests wishes.

I'm still not sure if I went on a trip with Mantra or if it was a dream.. We had a private cook who made fresh bread every day and excellent meals with great variety. Rooms (with private bathroom and shower) were really comfortable and spacious. The boat is luxurious but simple at the same time. We sailed the south of Raja Ampat for 12 days but I actually think that Mantra took us to another world! I must say it was one of the best experiences of my life.
