Description

Boat

Black Pearl is a 46.8 meters long, 8.6 meters wide steel-hulled vessel, built in 2019 with premium materials and fitted with the latest navigation, safety and scuba diving systems and equipment to exceed high standards in the yachting industry.

Designed by divers for divers, It is designed and fitted with the best amenities for an ultimate dive cruise experience, and equipped with relevant safety equipment and devices to ensure guests’ peace of mind while they cruise through Palau waters in absolute comfort.

Black Pearl is tastefully furnished with decorative touches in all onboard functional areas.

The sundeck designed with cozy outdoor seating furniture layout and a high performance bird watching telescope. And there is a large Jacuzzi for up to 12 persons and an enclosed private spa room, with a full range of spa services.

The upper deck has an Outdoor bar with outdoor seating and a standard full range bar services, entertainment saloon, gym equipment, cozy sofa seating arrangement and television gaming consoles for the entertainment of our guests.

The main deck has spacious dining area equipped with quality café and bar services, the layout is carefully planned that uses of natural sunlight to brighten up the area.

Black Pearl is equipped with new ideas for onboard entertainment such as: giant inflatable slide, kayaks, electronic dart machine, star-gazing telescope, satellite TV, TV console games, PS5 & Xbox with interactive games & motion sensor device, Poker game table, Automatic Majiang table, Board games, card games, poker gaming set, Jenga, High quality fishing gears and many more!

Black Pearl offer a mix of freshly prepared lnternational and Asian cuisine onboard with premium beverages option, mostly served at the table partly buffet or a la carte. The chef has a great experience for tasteful meals, and able to accommodate vegetarian and selective non-meat diets.

The customized Dive Station located at the back of the main deck, providing each guest with a personal storage space for their diving equipment, anti-slip flooring, ample outdoor showers and 3 indoor shower cubicles for privacy, designated camera soaking area and well ventilated wet suits storage area to ensure divers gets dried wet suits on every dives preparation.

Black Pearl also has a digital area for camera maintenance, 120/200v charging points available, low pressure air blower dryer, camera servicing work table, room temperature storage spaces for camera units below the work table itself.


Cabin

Black Pearl has 11 carefully designed guest cabins, it can accommodate 22 guests per trip :

All cabins have en-suite bathroom (with ocean-safe shampoo & body wash), A/C, Satellite LED TV & Google Chromecast, reading lights, hair dryer, bed remote control for lights and air-conditioned, wireless charging pod, universal electricity sockets with USB ports, safe box & electric water kettle, Inter-room telephone system, Ventilation system with inbuilt air purifier etc.

All cabins use 5-star hotel premium quality Egyptian cotton bedsheet, duvet and pillowcase. Plus Japanese high quality Imabari towels, there are 2 types of quality pillow selection: Feather & down pillow & Hypoallergenic down alternative pillow.

2 Master Suites (#301 - #302) :
Located on the upper deck, the largest cabin type onboard, each cabin comes with two single beds side by side, as well as a sofa bed, lage windows.

4 Seaview Cabins (#201 - #204) :
Located on the main deck, each cabin comes with one double bed or two single beds side by side, large windows.

5 Standard Cabins (#102 - #106) :
Located on the lower deck, each cabin comes with two single beds side by side, large portholes.


Diving

  • 3 dives per day + alternating additional night dives.

  • No dive provided on the day of arrival and departure.

  • Only 2 dives will be provided on the day before departure.

  • All diving will provide experienced guide to lead the dive.

  • Diving grouping ratio is 1 : 5 (Dive Guide : Divers)

Itineraries

Palau Classic

Trip Highlights : Cruise through pristine waters of Palau, Micronesia on our 8D7N Classic cruises. Best known for its diverse diving experiences and underwater landscapes, sharks, manta rays, and world-famous Jellyfish Lake, be awed by the magic of this remote destination presents.

In this week, you will : Discover the beauty of Palau and its Rock Islands One of the most bio diversified place in the world, there are 1300 species of fish, 350 hard coral species and 250 soft coral species. You also will witness one of the most spectacular underwater events: the spawning of the Bumphead parrotfish and red snappers if you join the spawning trips. Jellyfish lake is where our guests can snorkel among hundreds of harmless jellyfish. And there are giant wrecks from the World War II.


Spawning Trips

For four days leading up to and around the full moon, you will have a chance to witness one of the spectacular natural events on ocean, the spawning aggregations of the Bumphead Parrotfish (Bolbomeotpon Muricatum) and the Red Snapper (Lutjanus Bohar). Spawning in two different locations. This spawning actions will be located in Peleliu, or East of Koror dive sites. In preparation for the possibility of challenging conditions resulting from strong currents and early starts like 5:30AM.


Full moon trips

When diving at Full Moon early in the morning before sunrise, you will witness tens of thousands of Red Snappers rise up from the deep and aggregate to start the mating manoeuvres in a spectacle full of energy and excitement while they change their colours from red to white. These huge aggregations also attract the biggest predators in Palau hunting actively within the large school of Red Snappers.


New moon trips

During the New Moon dives, you will experience hundreds of Bumphead Parrotfish aggregating to start their climatic mating. With loud bangs male Bumpheads bump their heads together like buffaloes to gain superiority over females with colour changes taking place as the fish prepare to spawn From the deep, rising from the sandy bottom to the shallow water like a firework display, the fish release their gametes into the water column over and over again.


About Check-in and Check-out

Check-In:
All the instructions regarding your arrival on the check-in day will be provided a few days before your arrival in Palau. Embarkation on M/Y Black Pearl Explorer will be organized starting 4:00PM (local time) on the first day of the cruise. Guests are advised to strictly note the information that will be provided regarding the meeting point and exact time for pick-up.

The usual meeting points are organized as follows:

Airport: Guests arriving at the required airport on the check-in day can be picked up by a representative holding a sign of M/Y BLACK PEARL EXPLORER. The meeting point is usually at the main exit, immediately after luggage collection. However, this may be subject to additional charges and should be confirmed at least a day in advance.

Hotel or Resort: Guests who are coming from a hotel in the city can be picked up by a representative of M/Y Black Pearl Explorer. The meeting is usually in the main lobby or at the reception of the hotel.

Check-Out:
On the last day of the cruise, guests will be transferred to the airport at least 2 hours before their time of departure of their flights. Check-out and disembarkation will be organized from 7:00AM to 09:00AM (local time) on the last day. Guests who have extended their stay in Palau, and who are headed to a hotel, may request a transfer to their respective hotels, subject to additional charges.


Required Diving Experience

We require all divers to have a minimum 50 logged dives, with a minimum certification level of Advanced Open Water.

If you have less than the above minimum requirements stated above, we can arrange for private dive guide for you, if request is made a minimum of one month before departure. This extra service is at additional cost and subject to availability.

Pearl Fleet recommends a skills review if guests with a limited number of logged dives have not been diving for more than 6 months. The skills review should be completed prior to arrival. Evidence of the date of your last dive should be shown in your log book and indicated at the time of the booking. Every diver, regardless of their qualification or experience, will be required to participate in a check-dive.

During the cruise and depending on the divers’ ability, level of experience and on the water conditions, the dive guides may suggest some divers to skip a dive. Nitrox-filed tanks are free for Enriched Air Nitrox certified divers. We can also arrange Nitrox courses during the cruise.


Electricity and Plugs : International sockets that can fit any type of electric plug are available onboard.

Useful information

Palau

Best time for diving
Late November - early June, as these months have the best weather and best visibility. Palau can dive any time throughout the year, the rains are heavier from July to early October which reduces the visibility to an average of 15m and can cause weather conditions that may interfere with diving. Manta rays mating is from December to March (which is also considered as the "high season"). The grey reef shark mating is usually happen between February to March. Turtles breeding is from April to July.

About temperatures
Air : lovely tropical weather range from 27°C - 30°C year round
Sea : between 28°C - 29°C year round without much variation

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a dive Skin or 3 mm.

Diver requirement
We advice recommend to have at least an AOW certification ideally combined with Nitrox. As most of the dive sites are over 18 meters and strong currents can happen.

The embarkation and disembarkation are in Koror, Palau. Guests need to fly to/from Koror (ROR).

Visa Requirements
Most of nationals can visit Palau and get a 30-days tourist visa upon arrival.

Vaccinations
Guests arriving from countries which are affected by Cholera or Yellow Fever must show proof of immunisations upon arrival.

Money Matters
The local currency of Palau is the US Dollar (USD). The majority of established hotels, shops and restaurants accept major credit cards or traveler's' cheques. Occasionally smaller, family-run business will only accept cash. There are several US operated banks and plenty of ATMs so cash is readily accessible although the rate of exchange is very poor. Therefore, guests are advised to change money prior to arrival in Palau.

Ban on Sunscreens
On 1st January 2020, Palau introduced a ban on sunscreens which contain ingredients that are toxic to reefs. This directive means it is illegal to sell reef-toxic sunscreen products and also illegal to bring any into the Republic of Palau; any prohibited reef-toxic sunscreen shall be confiscated upon entry into the Republic of Palau.

Reef-toxic sunscreens are those which containoxybenzone, octylmethoxycinnamate, octocrylene, 4-methyl-benzylidene camphor, triclosan, methyl paraben, ethyl paraben, butyl paraben, benzyl paraben, phenoxythanol, or other chemical ingredients that are considered harmful to the marine environment.

Drones
The use of drones is allowed as long as the drone has been registered and a permit obtained from the Palau National Aviation Administration office in advance. Permits are free of charge and usually take 2-3 working days to process. Drone registration can be submitted online via the Palau Visitors Authority website.
